ABOUT US
What is the African-American Male Initiative (AAMI)?
After two years of exploring issues affecting the African-American community, the United Way of Greater Greensboro and the African-American Leadership engagement group is partnering with Guilford County Schools to improve outcomes for young African-American and other male students.
Under the leadership and program implementation of Communities In Schools of Greater Greensboro, committed volunteers will serve as mentors to African-American, Hispanic and other male students in grades 2nd-5th at Wiley Elementary, 6th-8th at Jackson Middle and 9th -12th grades at Smith High School. Approximately 140 boys are eligible to participate in the program between the three schools.
The goal: To improve the emotional and social well-being of African-American and other boys at Wiley, Jackson and Smith using mentoring as a powerful and personal tool to enhance the lives of youth. We hope you will join this united effort to change the future of African-American and other young males.
MAKE CHANGE, BECOME A MENTOR
